Logic Pro Drum Bus Processing

The approved drum bus is now simpler: Distressor for movement, TDR Nova for cleanup, AP Tape Eater for cohesion. Heavy aggression moved to a dedicated parallel bus.

Quick Answer

Compress the family first, clean the buildup second, and add tape cohesion last. If you want extra destruction, do it on the dedicated Drum Crunch parallel bus, not in the main drum bus path.

Overview

Main bus versus parallel aggression

The updated architecture separates the main drum bus from the aggressive parallel lane. The main bus should unify the kit. The parallel bus is where heavier density and aggression live.

Step by Step

Current Drum Bus Order

  • Use UADx Distressor as the main movement and aggression stage for the family.

  • Use TDR Nova to remove buildup created by compression, not to completely reshape the kit.

  • Use AP Tape Eater last for cohesion once the bus is already stable.

Parallel Note

Drum Crunch is separate now

  • Approved parallel aggression chain: Cobra Fuzz into UADx Distressor.

  • This lane should sound more intense internally while staying quieter in the overall mix return.

Stock Logic Alternatives

If you need stock substitutes

  • Logic Compressor can cover the main bus compression job.

  • Logic Channel EQ can cover cleanup where TDR Nova is unavailable.

  • Keep stock tape-style substitutes subtle. The bus should not become smeared.
